Worldly Scions,

Well, I finally finished the HS4 rebuilds last week. The carbs work very
nicely except I'm having problems with my float chambers flooding
intermittently.
Sometimes the front carb, sometimes the rear, never both at the same time.
I've been through the obvious stuff. Floats are not leaking and are correct
height.
The needle and seat valves are new. There doesn't seem to be an 'pattern'
to when they decide to flood. I can be driving or idling in the driveway
with the
bonnet up watching the float lids spew fuel.

I am considering trying some Grose Jets (debate-able I know). I also thought
about trying to use some polishing compound to get the needles to 'seat'
better. I've heard of people reviving worn needle/seats like this.

The Moss UK catalog shows a float chamber lid with provision for overflow
lines to direct the fuel away from the hot exhaust system. I'm hoping this
won't have to be my last resort. (Mine just vent it on top of the lid.)

Any worldly wisdom would be much appreciated. I can't be the first person
to have had this problem ;-) Not wanting the Spit to catch Fire.

The economic and technological -triumphs- of the past few years
have not solved as many problems as we thought they would, and,
in fact, have brought us new problems we did not foresee.
