Hi, Angus,

Thanks for the commment...let me share my source for the info, and maybe
that will shed some light on the situation. I receive the Club Triumph
(GB) newsletter in an exchange program with Bill Bolton for our club's
newsletter, which I edit. According to "Dr. Triumph's Surgery No. 49"
in the 11/96 issue, Bill references a change in factory documentation
around the end of 1972 where the number of securing bolts for the
flywheel on Stags was increased to six from four. My engine, which I
just looked at in the garage, is from a 1973 Mk. II, LE22504U, has SIX
bolts to hold the flywheel (currently has flexiplate attached from
automatic). I have two Stag manuals, one factory, one aftermarket. In
the aftermarket one, Autobooks Triumph Stag 1970-77, it shows a line
drawing of a FOUR bolt flywheel on page 25. In my factory manual, dated
1971 (came with my '71 parts car), I have both pictures and a line
drawing (same one) of a FOUR bolt flywheel. I know if I'm going to use
the rebuilt '73 engine, I need a SIX bolt flywheel...I haven't taken the
engine/tranny combo out of the '71 yet, but I'm willing to bet it will
be a four-bolt setup. So, I ask again...anyone got a six-bolt flywheel
out there?

Thanks for the help and interest...Angus, do you have some used engines
out there you can look at and enlighten us? Perhaps I have an anomaly
with my '73?
