Three come to mind for me:
80-85mph in my TR3A on a quiet, dark Interstate highway. Couldn't go any
faster, mostly because a: I knew I couldn't catch the 360 Plymouth Duster
I was chasing, and b: the front end sheet metal on the TR, such as it was
(not quite straight) seemed to cause no small amount of lift, and steering
was rapidly becoming a dream at that speed. ;-)
almost 80mph in my dad's Herald 1200, that on only 3 cylinders (ala Ken
Richardson in MVC575, but not because of a loose plug wire).
90mph or better in a Spitfire Mk.3, during a 10-mile-long impromptu "race"
with a friend's Mk.2 Spitfire very late one night.
