Subject: is there a dashpot oil heaven???

79 spit....is there a dashpot oil heaven? where does this oil go?
every hour or two of running, i can top off my su dashpot oil
w/ a few cc's....5-10.....where does all of this oil go? to the same 
place my sock ends up as it passes through the laundry???
any help is appreciated....r bonilla...colorado

If your dashpots keeps losing oil more often than it should that's a
pretty good indication that the o-ring has deteriorated at the base of
the piston/needle.  I believe that most manuals say this is a no-no to
try to replace, but I've heard of people doing it.  They say it is not
hard, just tedious.  Plus if you screw up, I think you have to replace
the assembly--this is why they don't want you to try to repair it.
