I have much the same trouble, as did I with the Spitfire and the TR4,
but then, I'm 6'4". I think the smaller steering wheel would be a
definite plus, and I am also relocating the seat track mounting points
back as far as they will go. I may have to try a different seat, as
well. But I intend to fit in the durned thing, one way or another. <g>
