Had the same problem on my old big bearing 72 Spitfire engine. Had the
machine shop weld and remachine the block and main caps ( the advantage is
you will have to get a line bore, oh darn! ). Wasn't terribly expensive at
the time, but that was probably around 20 years ago. Certianly must cheaper
than a NOS block!
