My experience is to a modified 74 TR-6, no thermo switch. I had on
fuel trap in the line to the line to the PCV valve but none to the
distributor when I bought the car. After appox 15K miles I isolated a
problem to the distributor , not vacuum retard related. When I removed
the distributor the vacuum unit had quite a lot of liquid in it. The
liquid was not fuel, did not smell like fuel, but was not just water
either. Needless to say I now have a fuel trap in line to the vacuum
retard unit.

Anyone have any experience checking the fuel traps on a '74 TR6 engine?
There are 3 such traps in the vacuum advance tubing network between
carbs, thermal valve, distributor, etc. I'm curious as to how much fuel
has actually been trapped. My engine is missing all traps (it's an early
'74 engine), and TRF wants about $17 apiece for them.
