Publicitie for car club

Hey all,
        THe guys in charge of our fledgling car club wanted me to take
charge of the publiticity for them. I'm already doing a website, but I
would like other ideas. Are there any events or stuff folks have done that
worked particulary welll, or anything people did to promote an event that
worked well. Any ideas, I'd appreciate them.
