Hi,
Congratulations on buying a TR6 You have a great car that will provide
you with hours of entertainment, starting now.
No you don't have to pull the engine, you should be able to replace the
ring by pulling the transmission. That's the good news. The bad news is
that pulling the transmission is not trivial either, it comes out
through the cockpit, not dropped from below as in most cars.
I highly recommend you get a copy of the Bently TR6 manual and follow the
instructions in it. I use the manual and have found it infinitely better
than any other. I think it is basically a copy of the shop manual.
Good luck. I hope you enjoy the TR6 as much as I have enjoyed mine.
