I got the leaf spring out of my Spit 1500 this weekend. Iım throwing in a new
one in an effort to shore up some sag and splay.
Perhaps one reason for the excess sag is sag is DPO related (I canıt seem to
find ANY place on the car where someone hasnıt been messinı) -- the springıs
center housing was missing the horizontal bolt and sleeve that fits into the
bottom, just above the bottom leaf and 4-bolt flat plate.
Q. #1) Is this bolt and sleeve diameter the same as that which holds the other
four spring clamps in place? (If so, I can just use a new 1/4 inch bolt and
one of my old springıs sleeves.)
PS: Did you ever try to look for a bolt sleeve at a hardward store?
Hmmph.
Q. #2) Is there supposed to be a small bolt holding the rubber pad in place
inside the center housing? This was also missing, and the pad was beat to hell.
PS: If you look around, an old, beat-to-hell up rubber center pad
might be replaced with an ordinary furniture floor protecter, cut to size.
Thanks for the help, you Spitfire leaf spring experts ...
