Hi Ron,
as far as I can say, (and correct me if I'm wrong Andy!)
in Your Sports6 You should have a:
Engine: 6-cyl., in-line, cast-iron cylinder block and
cylinder head, with four crankshaft main bearings.
Bore, stroke and capacity 66.75 * 76.0 mm, 1596 cc
(2.628 * 2.992 in., 97.39 cu in.). CR 8.75:1, with two
semi-downdraught Solex 32 PIH carburettors. 70 bhp (net)
at 5000 rpm. Maximum torque 92 lb ft at 2800 rpm. The
engine would have a number like: HB **** HE, with the
asterisks denoting a number within say 300 or so from
the Comm No...
Transmission: Final drive ratio 4.11:1. Overall gear
ratios 4.11, 5.16, 7.31, 12.06, reverse 12.06:1.
Synchromesh on top, third and second gears. 16.4 mph/
1000 rpm in top gear. The gearbox should have a number
like: HB **** and the also HB ****.
(Your car should have a body number like: 1 **** HBC.
Frame numbers were not recorded, but should (if Your
frame actually have one fitted) be in the same HB-
style... All HB numbers without any relation to each
other, except being in the same range of thousands (OK,
maybe hundreds) or so...)
