Timing Setting for 1978 Spitfire 1500

Subject: Timing Setting for 1978 Spitfire 1500

Looking for some help on correct timing setting for 1978 Spitfire 1500.  The 
book says 8 BTDC unless North America and then it is 2 ATDC.

I'm not exactly sure which setting is correct and why the difference.

Any thoughts...
