bad valve guides would be expected to produce smokey exhaust, especially
when first starting, "blow-by" wouldn't be expected to produce smoke in
exhaust, it's stuff that gets past rings into crankcase and then (in
pre-PCV cars) out the oil filler cap or any other convenient vent, i must
admit the idea about the worn rockers getting so hot they produce burning
of the oil is one i haven't heard, it's interesting, but i must politely
say i'm skeptical, i would expect if they're this hot, the engine would
sound like a cuisinart and wouldn't run very well
i second the recommendation for compression check
