TR7 tacho connection

I have recently purchased a '78 TR7 with an '88 Toyota Corolla 1600 engine.
I noticed that the tacho isn't actually connected to anything on the engine.
I was just wondering what drives the tacho on the original engine, with a view
to making it work on the newer Toyota engine.
