Ah don't be too quick to judge. . .
Suppose you were going to autocross your car and you couldn't afford one of
those low geared rear ends. . . . nothing like putting smaller diameter
wheels with low profile tires on them to do the same thing effectively.
Furthermore, the wheels would more than likely be wider . . couldn't really
be any skinnier than a stock TR-4 wheel.
Finally, if these were really old wheels. . . they might have had wider AND
taller tires on them . . .not uncommon during parts of that car's lifetime.
This would leave the overall circumfrence unchanged.
Let's also not rule out styling (do they look good) and stength. . can't
tell you how many bent up stock TR-4 wheels I"ve had.
I'd love an old set of 14" wheels . . . keepem around as autocross tires.
Yeah like I have a TR that could survive an autocross.
I'll keep dreaming.
