Andy, Herald gas tanks have a tendency to rust out on the bottom around where the outlet pipe is, the fuel well set in the fender well under the gas tank where one can not see it. So the question is do you get heavy gas fumes in the boot (trunk) area if so you may wish to pull the tank and check the bottom.
