The letters and "shield" badge are what I recall seeing on most early 
original "Mk.1" GT6s, and that is what is pictured in at least some of 
the early sales literature for same. The Mk.2 (6+ in North America) 
changed to the cream-colored GT6 Mk.2 or GT6+ badge without the TRIUMPH 
lettering.

If I understand what you're saying correctly, that the corrosion/pitting 
is on the inside, I'd NOT try to fill it with anything that fuel could 
dissolve (and it will dissolve most anything you'd use). If that 
corrosion doesn't affect the working of the pump, leave it.
