Brake pressure on GT6+?

I just finished replacing the right rear wheel cylinder.  But I can't  seem
to get any pressure in the system.  At first, the web of the front shoe
wouldn't touch the piston,  so I slacked off the hand brake cable and now it
seems ok.  But when I want to bleed the system, I get a little bit of
fluid....but no pressure gain at all.  There are no apparent leaks anywhere
and I do get fluid through the bleed off nipple in the new cylinder.   

Anything I'm missing?
