Robert,
When you turn to key to the start position, does the engine crank? Does the
solenoid click? If not, and you can crank and start the engine from the
buttom on the solenoid, your ignition switch is at fault, or the wires from
the ignition switch to the solenoid.
Get to the back side of the igniton switch, find the white/red connection,
and see it there's 12 volts available at that terminal when the key is in the
start position. If there's 12v at that connection, start following that
white/red wire, looking for breaks or bad connections on the way to the
starter solenoid (it should be one long wire up to the solenoid).
