Hello all,
I own a 76 TR6 (CF58310) which I 've had since 1982. The car is in
really great shape but it has been stored in a dry garage for the last 8
years. During that period, it has only been driven a couple of times.
I am now in the process of getting it roadworthy but am unable to find
information on what I need to do to make this happen. All I've found so
far is info on what I should do to put a car into storage, not take it
out after an extended period.
The engine does start and seems to run ok but I am afraid to actually
drive it too far away from the garage for fear of something really major
occurring while I am on the road (ie. all the oil draining out of the
trans/diff/engine).
On top of this, before I parked it 8 years ago the clutch release
bearing had seized up and so depressing the clutch pedal results in a
noise many of you are undoubtedly familiar with (it makes a lesser noise
with the clutch pedal not pressed in but I can't remember if this is
also normal?).
I have looked in all the places I've been able to find via web searches
but no luck.
Can anyone provide some info on stuff I should absolutely do before
proclaiming my car driveable (either a site my search engine missed or
perhaps personal experiences along the same lines)?
Many thanks in advance for any help!
PZ
