For what it's worth, you can install in-line fuel filters *very*
inexpensively. Most auto parts stores sell inline filters for a couple of
bucks. You cut your fuel line and insert the filter and you're done. I've
got one in my daily drive car, and when my Spit is drivable I intend to use
in-line filters on it.
