Fortunately when my 3 year old Ford Explorer didn't start this morning
my 18 year old Spitfire was more than willing to serve. Thats the good
news. The not so good news is that it was just teasing me....
Has anybody out there had any experience with rebuilding alternators
(actually, just replacing the bearings?). Knowing that this day would
come, I did buy a pair of bearing cartridges that (allegedly) will fit
but I haven't had the chance to take a go at swapping them in. Now
thats its a pressing matter... Any advice would be most welcome.
To the car's credit, it was able to limp most of the way home before
throwing the belt (thus, of course, ceasing the fan) and heating up
(rapidly).
