About O/D slipping, Karl wrote :

put in a new B&B clutch and rebuilt the master and slave cylinders (all this on
a 1-1/2 year old TR-6 with a similarly new OD), and yet it still slipped After
the OD blew up and I rebuilt it (NOT toucing the clutch except to R&R the trans)

It's not my experience but one of a member of our club, who is a mechanic
specialised in LBC, and has (well ?) restored many Spitfires.
he told me that inside the J Type O/D (Spitfire 1500), there was two different
types of freewheel, one forged and one machined. As you may know the job of a
freewheel is to be able to rotate only in one direction, and not to slip in the
other direction... But he say one of the two types (I think the later) would be
of poor quality, making the transmission slipping...
It's the first time I've heard that, it seems strange to me as I know how it's
made and how it works (I rebuilded myself 3 Ovd's D-Type, sorry not enough
English words in my pen to explain everything)
Of course if it's true it's very interesting.. Any experiences in that direction
?
