Bill-
You ask about the interchange of GT6 and TR6 headers...
Unfortunately there is no one easy quick answer. It all depends on what year
of each you are working on, but I'll give it a whirl...
If you really have an early GT6, all of the ports are level with each other
in the head and nothing will interchange.
Any of the later GT6 cars (+ and on) have the same port placement as the late
TR6 (72 on). Any manifold which bolts on one of these will bolt to the other.
The early (pre 72) TR6 motors used a different pattern on the port
placement and will not exchange with the GT6 line.
If this is not clear, check the part numbers for manifold gaskets on both
cars
So much for bolting the headers to the head...Now you have to pay attention
to the clearance between the frame and the block.
It would appear that the TR6 has more clearance here as the TR6 headers are
usually too wide to go into the GT6. (This is not always the case as some
manufacturers made them thin enough to fit, but this is only hearsay on my
part as I have never had a set of them in my hand, nor have I seen anyone
with a set fitted, but I have heard rumors).
So, to get back to the question of interchange between headers...
