Pete,

Two things come to mind.

1) Clutch slave cylinder gaulling.  The slave piston is steel and the
cylinder is aluminum. since the force on the piston is not straight, there is
some side force on the piston causing it to wear the cylinder.  This could
cause the sticking.

2) (more likely) Lack of lubrication on the clutch throw out sleeve.  The
throw out bearing slides on an extension of the transmission input shaft
cover.  This should be lubricated upon reassembly.  If lubrication is
lacking, the clutch could skick.

Number 1 is easer to remedy.  Number 2 requires removal of the transmission.
