helpfull nice people. I think what I would look into is getting the dash
stroked sanded first, or perhaps thickness sanded. Go by any GOOD cabinet
workers shop and ask them. This will give you a PERFECT flat finish to
adhear the veneer to. Next I would suggest you look into a vacume bag style
of veneering. I think what happens is the adhesive is applied to the woods,
the item is put into a bag of some kind and all the air is sucked out by
compressor. I "wood" NOT use a regular wood glue or contact cement AT ALL.
Given time it WILL fail. I think the best thing to use is a two part hyde
glue. This is all from the back of my brain as I have never done any veening
before but think it is the way to go. Again, ck out the woodworkers news
group and post your question(s) there. Also, perhaps make the cut outs for
the gauges etc smaller, and once the veneer is applied, take a sharp knife
and sand paper and VERY carefully shave it to size.
