You know, it actually feels kind of nice to take off this damn list-admin hat
and put on my driving cap and gloves. In truth, I had the gloves on, but left
the cap at home. Came out of my office at the U to find a couple of inches of
fresh snow on everything, the parking lot, my Mark 1 Spit, half the driver's
seat. Next year I'm getting the hardtop fitted.
It has been getting almost spring-like the last few days, something I needed
after a rather hectic and stressful February. The snow tonight was a bit of a
surprise, but fun. I roared around campus, visions of Simo Lampinen forging
over the passes in the '65 Alpine rally in my head, and made it to the post
office to check the PO box before heading home. With the warmer weather the
past few days, I've been thrashing about town, driving about at full chat, with
no one really paying attention to the little 1150 roadster, as it doesn't go
that fast! Luckily th erace car is torn apart, THAT one people would notice.
But then the first autocross is in less than three weeks, and the race car is
torn apart. Hmmm. Thinking of Tullius in one of the ADU cars at Sebring,
[my tags are ADU 1B] or Fuerstenau in one of those sanitary Group 44 cars,
I've been having a blast. Sometimes I even throw my arm out the window and
pretend I'm mjb waving goodbye to FTD at yet another VTR convention. What fun.
Maybe I'll treat myself to a shot of scotch. Life is perfect.
mjb.
