Jerry I had three of these hard tops. They are great conversation pieces. I have
sold off all but my best top. I am saving this to some day use on my 71 TR6
which will be completely original after I remove some of the performance bits (I
plan on building a modified 74).

I had a top on my 71 and it looks and works very well. Yes you have to remove
only the rear portion of the soft top attachment the front convertable top
framework can stay attached. I have obtained a special top cover that snaps to
the inside of the hardtop at the beltline and covers the soft top as it lays at
the rear of the storage shelf area and is hidden from view.

If you can obtain a top for a reasonable price, do it even if it sits in your
garage. These tops bring top dollar (only the original steel factory tops) and
if you can find one for less than less than 300 dollars you will never loose
money on it. A good top should bring upwards of $500 dollars. Thats for one in
very good condition. I recently sold one for 500 and one in complete but poor
shape for 350. I have seen some at Carlisle and TRF summer party for upwards of
$800 but they were still there at the end of the event. Don't forget you need
special hardware to attach it. Victoria British and TRF sell the stuff but try
to get it with the top it will save you money. Look for a top with a good
headliner, most are torn from being tossed about in storage.

Good Luck
