Thanks for all the responses re the above. With regard to the safety aspects, it was my concerns about these that lead me to post the original message. For the record, the cylinder had siezed since I removed it from the Herald at the wreckers and unwisely (in retrospect) drained out all the fluid. I suspect it is just gummed up. Nevertheless, assuming I do free it up, I will have the parts checked out by a professional before reassembling. Regards, Pat Edwards. |
