hi,
it's time i replaced the exhaust back end (it's fallen off
one to many times and, more importantly, failed inspection)
and i was considering what to do about the exhaust manifold.
i was planning on getting stainless steel pipes/muffler etc.
from TRF (being a long time saab owner i know the advantages
of ss).
the manifold does not look in to bad shape (?) from the
outside. it has quite a bit of surface rust. my options
are: 1) leave it alone 2) replace it with a stock
manifold 3) replace it with a higher performance one
and 4) clean up/paint? the one i have.
my concerns are:
if i leave it alone (1) how soon will it be a problem i.e. what
should i be looking for (as to it's condition) to make the decision.
since the bolts that hold it on look like one single rusted unit
i worry about taking the dam thing off! (2-4)
what can be done (and by who) to "restore" one (4). and how to
tell if it's restorable. special coating process? or somthing?
any other options i should consider?
thanks for any info,
kbt
