The diode pack in your alternator is bad. One or more of the diodes are
shorted, draining the battery and causing the ignition light to stay on.
Either bring it in for rebuild or replace the pack yourself. I had mine
rebuilt a few years ago and it went out again 9 months later, but it was
under warranty.

I have a 1980 triumph spitfire. I'm having difficulty with the electronic
ignition system. The electric ignitions light is on when the is running and
when it stoped. The ignition is draining the battery. I installed a new
ignition and directional unit 12 months ago. This problem appared within
the last week. Does anyone have a suggestions?
