Mark,
The Chicago Historic Races are held at Road Amaerica, Elkhart Lake Wi.
RA is about 2-1/2 hours north east of Rockford.
To get to RA from Rockford take I-90 North to I-43 east to
Milwaukee, continue North on I-43 towards Green Bay. 1/2 Hour north of
Milwaukee take Wi-57 North to Plymouth and follow the signs from Wi-57
to the track.

RA is a beautiful 4 mile road course in the rolling hills of Wisconsin.
The CHR is a BIG event that brings out a good size crowd. Last year it
was reported that the crowd was about 25,000 strong. I don't know who
the sanctioning body is, but I might have some info at home, I'l check
tonight.

Hotel/motels are scarce in that part of Wisconsin on race weekends. I
usually take the family and camp at a pricey ($40/weekend) campground
about 1 mile from the track. Plymouth Rock Camping resort is the name of
the place. Some local turn bare fields into camp grounds for races but
the "facilities" are pretty grim. There is no camping for spectators
allowed at the track.

I will be missing the CHR this year due to it being the end weekend
of the Autin-Healey Conclave in Canada.
