Yo. It's the lonely Midwestern USA Stag owner writing in to see if anyone
can give a hand with a couple of parts/repairs/technical questions. I'll
mention them briefly, and any input is greatly appreciated.
My tachometer is, and always has been, DEAD. My factory manual describes a
Mark I tachometer, but my Mark II tach doesn't have the same terminals.
Does anyone know just how my tach gets its signal? Do I need a ballast
resistor? (I can't find one in the car, but there was a greasy old one
under the spare tire in the boot when I bought it) I've been getting
repair quotes generally in the range of $150 US, but believe I can buy a
new/refurb gauge for about the same amount. Any recommendations on good
repair places, domestic USA would be appreciated.
I've been working on fabricating the gaskets that go on the bottom of the B
post chrome cappings, but am having little luck. Any possible sources?
I'd consider complete pieces off of a parts car.
I need a gasket for the RH vent window. Anyone got a good unit? I don't
expect to see a vendor making a retooled version for quite some time.
Also, my car came to me without the parcel tray. I can get the pressboard
assembly, but not the "crash roll" that supports it. Anyone got one to
sell?
Has anyone ever put a convertible top on a car similar or identical to this
one? I have put a USA manufactured top (hood) on the Stagbeast from
Robbins, whose reputation is impeccable. Problem is, its lateral
dimensions seem too wide; rain gutters hang too low and prevent doors from
closing properly if velcroed to eliminate top wrinkles. Any ideas?
Anyone need any creative input on servicing Stags, let me know. I've read
six years of SOC (Stag Owners Club, British) magazines, and can provide
extensive help.
