hi,

1) i have a tr250 that i am putting back on the road after
many years. the engine is (was) very solid and really
hummed when the dam carbs were tuned. not being on the
road it's been a while since i changed the oil and i
don't remember what i use to put in it. it seems to me
i was putting something different then the oem recomendation
since this is a summer/good weather only car. any opinions
on grade/mfg. of oil for this thing?

2) in the process of getting the motor back running i had
to replace an O ring and the needle valve in one of the cards
(rear/left one). the motor runs pretty bad now. the last time
it was run was ~3 years ago. i am assuming for now that it's
the carbs. one of the tests for idle adjustment is to lift
the piston in the carb about 1/4" and note what the engine
does (from the stromberg manual). when i lift the piston on
the rear carb 1/8" the motor imediately stalls. lifting the
the front piston all the way up does not affect the motor at
all!? does anyone have any clues on what may be out of adjustment,
stuck, plugged etc.? do i have the right suspects? i rebuilt both
carbs about 10 years ago... is it time to do it again?

thanks for any help,

kbt
