The rear quarter shafts are attached to the inner flanges at each
side of the diff and connect via splines to the sun gears inside the
diff. In order to extract these you remove 4 allen bolts holding the
plate which holds the bearing in place (behind the flange) and the whole
thing pulls out easily. Once these shafts are out the rear casing can
simply be unbolted and swapped over without disturbing the critical
alignment of the crownwheel and pinion. The quarter shaft bearings and
seals can then be replaced with the aid of a press. The price doesn't
seem too horrendous considering it's an outright purchase, typical prices
here are 200 exchange.
