This is from Bob Mannel's Book, Mustang and Ford Small Block V8 1962-1969:
Solid lifter cam
Threaded rocker arm studs and recessed spring seats
Free breathing header type exhaust manifolds
Dual point distributor
4 barrel, 480 cfm carb
Cast, higher strength flat top pistons
High nodular iron crankshaft
Forged steel connecting rods with 3/8" bolts
Forged steel exhaust valves
---------
There were also thicker main bearing caps and beefier rod end caps for the
3/8" bolts.
There are also a number of other parts like the harmonic balancer, timing
chain, cam gears and an extra little counter weight plus all the solid
lifter parts.
All the parts were handpicked and inspected to a higher standard for HiPo
engines.
I believe that covers the majority of the parts.
As far as I know no 260 was ever a HiPo type engine but that does not mean
Shelby American did not put HiPo parts on some of their 260 engines for the
Cobra program until the standard 289 HiPo was readily available.

Subject: [Tigers] K-Code
Hello,K- code Questions:
Two K- code Questions
1) What are the parts and changes that differentiate a K- code 289 from a
standard or cooking variety 289?
2) Was a K- code 260 ever produced or even contemplated? If it was produced,
what vehicles was it available in?
