It would be interesting to know what caused the failure on the Datsun. =
=20
There were a pretty good supply of those on the road and I've never heard=
of=20
it being a particular problem.
Agree though that Tiger lugs don't instill a bunch of confidence:-)

Night=E2=80=9D at a burger shop, l passed an early Datsun 1600 (could hav=

2000) that was on the side of the road, the left rear wheel had fallen=20
off. It was clear all four lug nuts had sheared off. That got me think=

about our very old measly 7/16 studs and high powered (300+HP) engines.=
=20
Does anybody know the number of a particular 7/16 TRW stud that works on=
our=20
flimsy little hubs without stretching the holes?? Most of the ones I hav=
e=20
looked at the =E2=80=9Cknurling=E2=80=9D on the base is much larger than=
the Knurling on=20
the stock studs. Pressing them in would certainly cause a lot of stress=
in=20
an already weak part. Drilling the hubs out so they would fit would be=
=20
counterproductive. Machining the Knurling down would work, but again=20
counterproductive in my opinion.=20
Any ideas??=20
