The vent hose on my 1A (built late summer '66) also went through the sheet
metal enclosed section at the front of the trunk/rear of the conv. top.
Mine split many years back, providing that special flavor enhancement to
the picnic lunch with which it shared the trunk. As was mentioned before,
the replacement was of a larger external dimension, so it's just zip tied
to the bottom of the original channel.
