Part 3
I will set the motor up on my run stand (yet to be fabricated!) to
assure that the electronics and motor are happy before taking it to the
engine dyno. No use wasting time and money there. I am also planning on
using a JW Ultrabell, SFI approved as a containment for the torque
converter should it decide to go wandering about when in full boogey
mode. I love my feet just the way they are, lol... Headers will be
simple block huger types with a short side out exhaust just behind the
front wheels. Auxiliary equipment will be reused from the 2010 motor:
alternator, water pump, plumbing, etc. A new 9 qt pan has been located
and will be used as well. By the end of a 5 mile long run, there is a
lot of oil up in the lifter gallery and in the heads that has not had
time to drain back. More oil is better and a dry sump wold be
wonderful. They are, however, expensive to say the least and room is in
short supply in this car. That prety much covers teh drive train..oh,
I am going to get a lightly longer drive shaft made up as well. I wold
really hate it if the front yoke came out of the tranny, lol.. and this
one seems too close for comfort for me. I want a new parachute
system, but this one will do for another year I guess. I am also make a
swoopier front nose piece for the car. If you have seen photographs of
the car then it is clear why that needs to be done, lol. It is like
pushing a barn door through the air. The new nose piece should permit
faster speeds with less power (fingers crossed, lol). I t has to be
removeable because it is low to hte ground and out front a biut farther
than the air dam in use now and it hits the trailer ramps. Some where
in there I have to purchase a HANS device as well. This sport is
expensive for a two meet per year season. And that's if World Finals
happen in October.
As I start assembling bits and pieces, I will set up a section on my web
site for show and tell photographs and verbiage to go along with them.
