Not sure if they were investment bankers, think it might just have
been the rootes brothers company.. they are probably reffering to the
fact the rootes bros built volume production cars, hillmans.. Sunbeam
pre rootes were high end cars, twin cam 16 vlave 4cyl and twin cam
8's, hihg end sports motors... talbot built fantastic sports cars the
105 series were very compotent... rootes bought the comanies and
merged them, badge engineering them onto hillman based products.. much
the same with singer.. high end sports and tourers.. to hillman based
cars.. though the first singers under rootes still used the OHC singer
engine.. that soon made way for rootes OHV motors....
despite all that.. i still like my rootes derived cars... even though
they may not be as exotic or high spec..
