For info on gage troubleshooting, check out my article at: http://www.tigersunited.com/techtips/BrennanGauge/rt-BrennanGauge1.asp There's a explanation of how things work, and how to troubleshoot. When I had the symptoms you describe, the gage reading low, the problem was the sender going bad. It's easy to sort things out if you have an ohmmeter.
