A few days ago, a list member sent me a notice of a 1925 Sunbeam pin
commemorating the record of that year. I purchased it, although not yet
arrived. So question one is was there anything similar to that pin for
the record set in 1927 in which the Sunbeam was the very first car to
exceed a two way record over 200 mph? I wouldn't mind having one for my
hat... If there is a photo of such that might also work as I might be
able to have a replica made. Question 2. As I run down through the
mechanical attriutes of the Sunbeam 1000 hp car that did set the record,
just exactly how did it qualify as a Sunbeam? As I recall, not one part
was made from anything resembling a Sunbeam of that era although I could
be mistaken. I know the engines were aircraft engines, the Matabelle
model, and I believe they were Sunbeam but again may not be correct.
So again, how did they claim a "Sunbeam" broke the record? Seems like
that is really really a stretch, lol... LIke the Summers Brothers in
their 409 mph record using 4 Chrysler engines being a Chrysler.... not...
