I'd suggest that surface rust and rust from the inside out are two
different items...
But, I also don't see that much in the Mk II to get super excited about. It
is another tweener car, not nice enough to drive, as is, but tempting to
not go overboard with restoration...but, probably falling out on the total
resto side, to be happy with it. In that case, you've got at least
$70-80,000 into a $50,000 car.

The green one on ebay with the two hoods has been discussed here
recently. . . in a most complimentary fashion .. . Maybe I am missing
it, but after the bold "NO RUST" claim in the description, I was shocked
at how much, well, RUST there was underneath. Surface rust, probably,
but rust. . . Or maybe I am mistaken and it was Ferric Oxide, and not
rust at all ;) . .. That was enough for me to pretty much reject
everything else in the description, expect perhaps that the car is
green.
