The recent discussion of body colors prompted me to dig out Issue #8
of Tiger Press, published by Norman Miller. This issue included an
article titled "Color by Numbers," which chronicled Tiger paint
colors as recorded in TIROST (Norm's Tiger registry.) Data in the
article was sorted in a variety of interesting ways, including this
summary of all known Tiger colors:
Code B947 B3820 B3821
Overall
1 Embassy Black 175 56 0 231
19 Moonstone 204 1 0 206
39 Carnival Red 513 179 49 743
53 Wedgewood Blue 84 2 0 86
58 Midnight Blue 360 62 2 424
61 Quartz Blue Metallic 1 0 0 1
67 Light Green Metallic 0 0 0 0
68 Autumn Gold Metallic 0 0 0 0
76 Balmoral Gray 27 0 0 27
86 Forest Green 598 300 96 996
92 Arctic White 196 99 0 295
100 Mediterranean Blue 161 95 20 276
102 Oxford Blue 0 0 0 0
106 Commodore Blue 0 11 42 53
107 Holly Green 0 0 0 0
108 Polar White 3 13 24 40
109 Orchid Green 0 0 18 18
122 Signal Red 0 1 0 1
127 Turquoise Blue Metallic 0 0 0 0
130 Gunmetal Metallic 0 0 0 0 0
When Colors by Numbers was published in 2000, 3396 of the total of
7085 Tigers produced were registered with TIROST. Today that number
has swollen to 3819. That's pretty amazing, considering the cars are
now more than 40 years old!
