I replaced the guage voltage regulator this past summer and saw a drop in indicated temperature from 240 to about 212 on hot days (90 degrees F around here) and 195-200 on temperate days. This is a modified 289 with headers, cam, 650 4 barrel . I had previously rodded the radiator and covered over the air gaps under the radiator and the "horn holes" with no apparent reduction in temperature. Wish I'd done the guage first!
