Hello email listers:

I have a (new to me) Tiger with a clutch that doesn't seem to fully disengage
when the car is fully warmed up. As a consequence, first or reverse gears are
very difficult to engage when at a stop, without a lot of double clutching
before coming to a stop.

When the car is cold or warming up, no problem. Clutch engagement point is
very high, nearly at the top of the pedal's travel. I have bled the hydraulic
circuit and replaced with DOT 4 synthetic fluid, but no real improvement. The
car has headers that are relatively close to the slave cylinder.

I have two diagnostic theories:

1: The slave cylinder is getting hot from the header pipe and I need to
fabricate some sort of heat shield.
2: The clutch is just about shot and the disk is hanging up o the pressure
plate or the splines, or the pilot bearing is binding.

Any wisdom on this would be welcome.
