The speedo gear is Ford specific and it doesn't surprise me that a local
parts
dealer doesn't carry it. Your local Ford dealer will list/carry it or can
order it.
If SS doesn't carry it, the National Mustang parts places do.
If you have not lubed the speedo head gear, that may be the problem.
Since you have the cable out, remove the speedo. Stick a small
screw driver in the hole and turn it. It should move easily with no
stickiness. If not get some speed gear lube and a drop. Keep
working the screw driver until it moves freely. Don't over lube.
If you can't free the head, you'll need to have it rebuilt. Seems the
factory
lube only lasts so long and then dries out. The gear siezes and stops the
cable at the head. The steel cable is driven by the steel gear inside the
trans
and something has to give. That why the speedo gear is plastic.
The lower hose is listed on TigersUnited. I believe its a Goddyear #
60325 or 60171. Its a perfect fit complete with the proper bend.
It should have a spring inside which keeps the hose from collapsing
when accelerating and causing overheating. Make sure the spring
does not go inside the water pump inlet. Also make sure the hose
clears the fan belt by at least 1/2 inch. Otherwise the belt may
saw its way through the hose. Been there. Done that.
