How about the 1950 GM Parade of Progress bus that went for $4,100,000 on
Saturday night? The owners were expecting around $600,000 for it. Where do
these
people get that kind of money?
In some cases, the money being spent is tax-deductible, as the cars are
being held within not for profit entities. An example are some of the private
"museums", which might open their doors a couple of times a year, by
appointment
only...nice tax dodges for wealthy individuals to utilize.
But, as has already been said, the Barrett Jackson auctions are known for
being examples of stupid money in action. Good example: a '67 GT500 Mustang
went
for $410,000...and had been offered through a dealer for $185,000, prior to
the auction.
