Listers and Stu,
I installed my lower cushion cover myself and had the rear installed for me
for $40 each as I just could not figure out how to do it. I also had an extra
= inch foam sheet applied to the rear cardboard. The lower cushion was VERY
easy to install. The seat back I just did not know the trick which is to
'roll' the cover down on to the seat back or use a slim card board spacer to
prevent the center pleat area ... where you apply adhesive .... From sticking
to the seat foam in the wrong place. Once cover is correctly positioned slide
the card board (or sheet plastic) out.
I used new cardboard from Martha and new foam from SS. Both were extremely
good products. I may have needed the foam because I wrapped the cardboard too
tight but the end product looks excellent.
If anyone wants photos my leather seats installed send me a note as they look
great and I assure you are NOT straight across from the peaks. The trick is
LOTS of good contact cement (not the waterbase crap from home depot if
necessary buy a case of the little bottles and dump them into a bigger
container) on the underside of the cover in the pleat area and the lower seat
foam JUST in the recess. Careful positioning will ensure that the lower is
located perfectly. I have an article done by another lister that was very good
and as a result I did not write one.
The leather covers in the end fit extremely well with the extra = half inch of
foam on the seat back. It does not affect the look and actually helps prevent
rear back marking as it provides a little cushion.
