There's a one-page article title Hurricane Havoc in the current issue of
Autoweek that quotes McKeel Haggerty from Haggerty Insurance in reference to
the
destruction of Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Haggerty states that a couple of
thousand collector cars were lost and that about 75% of Haggerty's 419 claims
were
total losses.
Included among them were a Ferrari 550 Maranello, a couple of Jaguars in the
$75,000-$80,000 price range and a vintage muscle car and Corvette collection
valued around $520,000. He then stated the obvious, in regards to the Gulf
states, that insurance premiums will rise and the procedures and conditions to
obtain insurance will become more rigorous.
